Whether you've been involved in an accident or your hire vehicle has broken down, one phone call is all you need. Our accident and breakdown partner, TTS360, will take care of everything from that point on – including recovery, arranging a replacement vehicle where appropriate, and guiding you through what to do next.
The same number covers all vehicle breakdowns as well as accidents, so there's only one number to remember. We recommend saving it in your phone before you set off.
What to do if you have an accident
- DO stop the vehicle and switch off the engine as soon as it's safe to do so, then switch on your hazard lights.
- DO stay calm, take some deep breaths and check whether anyone is injured.
- DO call the emergency services if anyone is hurt, as soon as you've made sure everyone is safe from further harm.
- DO call 0333 207 9654 as soon as possible so we can assist you promptly.
- DO NOT apologise or admit liability at the scene, even if you think you were at fault. It could seriously affect your claim.
- DO take pictures and gather information (see below).
Information to gather at the scene
- Photos of all vehicles involved, including damage and number plates.
- The make, model and registration of the other vehicle(s), and the other driver's name, address and insurance details.
- The date, time and location of the accident.
- Driving conditions, weather and the road surface.
- Details of any injuries.
- Names and contact details of any witnesses.
What to do if you break down
- Pull over somewhere safe if you can, switch on your hazard lights and leave the vehicle by the side away from traffic if it's safe to do so.
- On a motorway, get behind the barrier and away from the vehicle if possible.
- Call 0333 207 9654 and have your vehicle registration and location to hand.
- Do not attempt repairs yourself.
